Necklace for travellers
Everyone needs a little Guardian Angel sometimes and this hand-crafted sterling-silver and enamel Angelito necklace also has a tiny Concha scallop shell of the Camino de Santiago on the front, and a Tau cross on the reverse.
The combination of the symbolic Guardian Angel, Tau Cross and the Concha de Vieira shell is indicative of both protection and guidance - especially for travellers.
The little angel (or angelito in Spanish), hand-crafted by specialist silversmiths in Galicia, northern Spain, is made of sterling-silver coated with enamel and measures 23mm in length including the hanging bail. There is a tiny sterling silver scallop shell on the front of the angel and a Tau Cross engraved on the back, symbolic of a journey or pilgrimage. It hangs on an 18" sterling-silver diamond-cut ball chain which sparkles beautifully in the light.
Would make a lovely gift to pass on wishes of safekeeping.
Symbolism:
Some say Angels are spirit intermediaries between Heaven and Earth, and can be our Guardians . . offering protection and helping us through our lives (eg. when travelling, or in sickness or conflict). The Tau Cross (on the back of this pendant) is the Pilgrims’ Cross - frequently seen around Santiago de Compostela, northern Spain, and a symbol for Travellers, as is the Scallop Shell on the front. In addition to any value that these symbols have in themselves, or the religious faith that they might represent, this necklace can also act as a REMINDER TO BE CAREFUL. And this can be a powerful aid to staying safe whilst travelling away from home.
