Travel jewellery doesn't get more meaningful than this
This is a beautiful and special piece of jewellery: Azabache or 'jet' is notoriously difficult to work with and so Azabacheros (carvers of Azabache) have worked with silversmiths in Asturias, Northern Spain, to create this really special piece of jewellery with meaning.
The Tau Cross is the "Pilgrims' Cross" and although a pilgrimage is normally a real journey, it can also be a metaphorical journey too - especially a long or difficult one, going somewhere that is special to a person's beliefs or feelings.
So this Tau Cross necklace would also be ideal for those with the 'travel bug'
The cross, hand-crafted close to the route of El Camino de Santiago, is made of 925 silver and carefully inlaid with Azabache jet. It measures 28mm in length including the hanging bail and comes with a 20" sterling silver belcher chain.
Symbolism:
The Tau Cross is the Pilgrims’ Cross - frequently seen around Santiago de Compostela, northern Spain. It is sometimes called the St Francis cross as well because almost all Franciscan places of worship have the Tau painted on the building and members of the Francisian Order wear a wood ’T’ on a cord with three knots - honouring a respect for life so everyone is cared for with respect, dignity, fairness and compassion.
